Paint Mares

The American Paint Horse Association allows outcrosses to Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds for a purebred Paint foal.  Horses with Thoroughbred breeding close up are marked "race bred".

"Paint" is a breed, specifically horses registered with the American Paint Horse Association. "Pinto" is a descriptive term, referring to a horse of any breeding that exhibits one or more patterns of white.

Please note: Because of the possibility of OLWS (Overo Lethal White Syndrome) in real horses, I will not breed two horses carrying the frame gene. Frame on its own does not cause any disease in horses, but if a foal inherits frame from both parents (a 1 in 4 chance when breeding two frame carriers), it will not live more than a few days. All of my horses carrying frame are noted, and can be bred with any horse NOT carrying frame.
